What is MagVita TMS Therapy?
MagVita Therapy is a non-invasive treatment based on repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) which delivers magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in the part of the brain controlling mood, which is often underactive in patients with depression. Repeated stimulation of this part of the brain has proved to produce an antidepressant effect on people suffering from depression.
Who can get the treatment?
Magvita TMS Therapy is indicated for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder in adult patients who have failed to receive satisfactory improvements from prior antidepressant medication in the current episode.
How does the treatment feel?
During treatment, you hear a clicking sound and feel a tapping sensation on your head. Many patients will be able to watch television or read a magazine during treatment.
Are there any side effects?
The treatment is without the side effects typically experienced with antidepressants. Some patients report of a mild discomfort or headache, but you should be able to resume your daily activities right after treatment.
How often should I get treatment?
MagVita TMS Therapy is given 5 times a week, over a period of 6 weeks.
